The members of Proxfin endorse the Declaration produced at the conclusion of the International Summit of Cooperatives
Proxfin member institutions proudly endorse the Declaration released after the third International Summit of Cooperatives, held in Quebec City, Canada, October 11 to 13. A major event organized jointly by Desjardins Group and International Co-operative Alliance, this year's edition focused on the power of cooperatives and mutuals to act on the major socioeconomic challenges of our times.
Attracting 2,950 stakeholders from 116 countries and featuring over 230 distinguished speakers, such as economists Joseph E. Stiglitz and Robert Reich, the Summit's conferences, forums and roundtables triggered valuable discussions on the economy, the environment, innovation and women's leadership.
Following the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the United Nations, cooperatives and mutuals affirmed loudly and clearly their capacity to act at the social, environmental and economic level to contribute to the attainment of its ambitious objectives.
The final Declaration will be presented to the United Nations in February 2017.
In parallel with the Summit, Proxfin held its annual general meeting during which the Association admitted a new member, partly renewed its Management Committee, planned its next annual meeting and presented the Performance Report with statistics on the outreach and performance of member institutions.
The members of Proxfin also discussed credit risk management during a workshop in which representatives from Desjardins Group and a number of other organizations also participated. Finally, Proxfin celebrated the network's 10 years of existence with a cocktail reception for members and guests during which participants evoked the key stages in Proxfin's history.
Développement international Desjardins (DID) and its Proxfin partners are proud to have taken part in these events and thereby contributed to furthering discussion and practices related to inclusive finance and sustainable development.
